Jean-Michel MEURICE
Jean Michel-Meurice was born in 1938 in Lille, France.
He lives and works in Paris and Bages.
Jean-Michel Meurice is a French painter. He founded with Claude Viallat the artistic group Supports/Surfaces.
Since 1960, Jean-Michel Meurice works as a painter and as a filmmaker. In particular, he was one of the founders of the franco-german television channel Arte, where he served as director from 1986 to 1989. Moreover, he is a renowned documentary maker and received the Grand Prix de la Création Audiovisuelle in 1992. He also produced a series of portraits of artists (including Sonia Delaunay, Alberto Burri and Bram Van Velde).
Four of his paintings entitled “Penelope” can be found in the National Museum of Modern Art, and his works are showcased throughout the world (Tokyo, Beijing, Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm…).
In 1987 he was commissioned to create the ceiling painting of the Picasso Museum in Antibes.
Jean-Michel Meurice exhibited his works on paper at the Virgile Legrand Gallery in April 2013 and published an artist book in twelve copies.

Jean-Michel Meurice est peintre et cofondateur avec Claude Viallat du groupe Supports/Surfaces.
Jean-Michel Meurice mène depuis 1960 une double activité de peintre et de cinéaste. Il est l’une des personnalités à l’origine de la création de la chaîne de télévision franco-allemande Arte dont il a été le directeur de 1986 à 1989. Auteur de nombreux films documentaires, le Grand Prix National de la Création Audiovisuelle lui est décernée en 1992. Il a notamment réalisé une série de portraits d’artistes (Bram Van Velde, Sonia Delaunay, Albreto Burri…).
Quatre de ses peintures intitulées “Pénélope” se trouvent dans les collections du Musée d’Art Moderne et son travail est exposé dans le monde entier (Tokyo, Pékin, Copenhague, Stockholm, Paris…)
En 1987 il s’est vu confié la réalisation d’un plafond au Musée Picasso d’Antibes.
Jean-Michel Meurice a exposé ses œuvres à la Galerie Virgile Legrand en avril 2013 et y a réalisé un livre d’artiste publié à douze exemplaires.
